I've been working on my '75 CB 550 cafe for about a month now and hoping to start a similar blog detailing the insanity. Anyway, don't throw out your battery cage, I am reusing mine with great success, just trim and grind all the unecessary tabs and remount under your seat with some flat stock, or check back with BCR and they make a whole unit that fits on the ass end of the bike (behind rear shock mounts) with a little cutting and welding.
